learn something about Paris

Notre Dame de Paris
My first postcard that I received!

(hello in France)

Notre Dame de Paris, French for Our Lady of Paris, means church in Paris dedicated to the Virgin Mary, also known as Notre Dame Cathedral.

Notre Dame de Paris is widely considered one of the finest examples of French Gothic architecture in France and in Europe, and the naturalism of its sculptures and stained glass are in contrast with earlier Romanesque architecture. the first period of construction from 1163 into 1240s coincided with the musical experiments of the Notre Dame school. Notre Dame de Paris was among the first building in the world to use the flying buttress!
In addition to tourist destinations, this church is still used for the mass and the Archbishop of Paris.

Talking about Notre Dame de Paris I just remember about this tale, The Hunchback of Notre Dame. Victor Hugo began writing The Hunchback of Notre Dame in 1829 and the book was finished in 1831.

This book is about a deformed bell-ringer mus assert his independence from a vicious goverment minister in order to help his friend, a gypsy dancing girl.

I hope to get more card from Paris, so I can learn more :)

Bonne journee!
(Have a nice day!)
