learn something about London

Union Flag or Union Jack

Hello!

how's life guys?

I receive this card on November 8,2011. I remember how happy I am that day.

Who does not know about United Kingdom or England?

United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland (commonly known as the United Kingdom, the UK or Britain) is a unitary state governed under a constitutional monarchy. It is a country in its own right, and consists of four countries: England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales.

And what is England famous for? England is famous for many many things. for its history, royal family, Castles and historic houses, Big Been, educational institutes, Shakespeare, Robin hood, David beckham, Harry Potter and London.

London is made up of two ancient cities which are now joined together. They are: (1) the City of London, know simply as 'the City' which is the business and financial heart of the United Kingdom. (2) the city of Westminster, where Parliament and most of the government offices are located. also Buckingham Palace, the official London residence of the Queen and the Royal family are located there too. Together they all make up a region known as Greater London.
London contains four World Heritage Sites: The Tower of London; Kew Garden; the site comprising the Palace of Westminster, Westminster Abbey and St. Margaret's Church; and the historic settlement of Greenwich.

Other famous landmarks (you can see in picture above) include: Buckingham Palace, the London eye, Piccadilly circus, St. Paul's Cathedral, Tower Bridge, Trafalgar square and Wembley Stadium.

My favorite is The London Eye. The London Eye is a giant ferris wheel situated on the banks of the river Thames, in London. the entire structure is 135 metres (443ft) tall and the wheel has a diameter of 120metres (394ft). it's the tallest ferris wheel in europe and the most popular paid tourist attraction in the UK.

interesting facts about the London Eye is that on a clear sunny day, a person inside The London Eyecan see up to a distance of 40km, as far as the Windsor Castle. And another most interesting The London Eye fact is that, since february 2004 it is kept open on Valentine's day even at night, so that couple can enjoy a romantic ride and a lovely view of London.

and this is Year's Top Review from United Kingdom:

(1.) Royal Wedding of Prince William - the big Royal Wedding London event takes place on Friday 29th April 2011.

(2.) Amy Winehouse, the rock stars was found dead on 23 July 2011 after drug overdose

(3.) 2011 England Riots - between 6 and 10 August 2011, several London boroughs and districts of the cities and towns across England suffered widespread rioting, looting and arson.

I think this is enough for now. see you~

Have a nice day!

love,
